My name is Darcie Ann Loy. I am the founder/owner/visionary of Sea Star Spa Dry Resort.
I am a Canadian woman that fell in love with everything about a little Caribbean island in 2007 and I bought my little piece on the prettiest beach I had every seen.   I created this resort as an extension of my home to share with friends and family. It grew to become more than I ever dreamed and many strangers came as guests and left as friends. We have shared an incredible journey together.

On January 24, 2021, I made the decision to live an Alcohol-Free lifestyle. I joined several sober groups on social media for support and connection and discovered a need for dry vacation destinations. I know my own limitations, and I learned thousands other people feel the same as me. That and the need to support my new lifestyle, I felt the need to rebrand my vacation property to an exclusive Dry Resort. I want other like-minded people to feel safe when they are at my home and not be subjected to the pressures of alcohol. 

It has been 15 years since I purchased my little piece of paradise.  Many times over these years I have been repeatedly asked,  to write a few things down about leaving a traditional life in the Canadian Prairies for an adventurous life on a Tropical Island Paradise in Nicaragua.  I guess there are many reasons why I haven't shared very little of my journey publicly. Regardless of what those reasons were, I will try to contribute here often and answer the "​Why" and "How" I chose a new life for those that are interested and "What" is happening at SeaStar.
